Before we get started, I want you to know I am not sponsored by this company, this is an honest review of a product I actually use, so our first review is of the Evolve Adventure Towel.
I’m not someone who needs to have the newest, cutting edge products, but when I saw this on my timeline on Facebook, I knew I had to order it. The Evolve Adventure Towel is made of 20 Recycled Plastic Bottles and boasts it’s lightweight, quick drying, sand-repellent and antimicrobial properties. This is the first Kickstarter I have ever backed, so how did this towel measure up to its competition and to its own claims?
Here’s a breakdown by each claim.
This towel is Lightweight. Is it the lightest towel I’ve ever had? No. But the towel I had that was lighter was much smaller so by comparison, this towel is quite light. It also comes with a cute bag, but takes some folding and rolling so you may not get it into the bag right after you use it.
I have to say; this towel is very quick drying. Even in a cold Canadian winter, this towel dries in around 2 hours in a well-ventilated space, but not over any heat. I can only imagine in a warm area or at a beach that this towel could dry in 30 minutes or so, so I’m quite happy with this particular feature
Sand-repellent is not something I would think of right away. Being from the east coast but not on the coats, we don’t have a ton of beaches with sand, growing up I would usually jump off docks and have towels on Adirondack chairs or benches. But when I tested this with sand, I borrowed from my little friends Shadow and Fluffy, I was shocked by what a difference there is between this and other towels. This would be listed under one of those things I never knew I needed but now can’t live without?
Having antimicrobial properties is not something I’m equipped to test for at this point, but I can say that other towels I’ve had eventually start to smell after a few uses of any kind, but this towel tends to smell a little more like the detergent used or like nothing at all, which I can only assume means its working? And before you judge me for using a towel multiple times before washing it, keep in mind how difficult it can be to get a washer at a hostel! It’s almost as difficult as getting a spoon at breakfast…
So, would I recommend this towel? Absolutely. From what I’ve experienced this towel is one of the best I’ve seen in a long time. It does what it says it will, now as with most gear, it is a bit of an investment. At 49 USD (59AUD) at the time of filming, these towels are a bit expensive, but for me, the comparison of other brands and Evolve make it worth it for me.
